“Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present Truth.”
(2 Peter 1:12)
Whenever the Spirit of God is speaking to you He is speaking the whole truth concerning you. He is ever seeking to bring you into the place of a connection and a living truth that you might be in the “present” Truth. In the Greek, the “present truth” is, in essence, “the truth of THE presence”that you might be equipped and prepared to walk in a living and consistent walk, in sync with what He is doing on the earth.
Jesus said, “the words I speak they are spirit and they are LIFE!” and as you develop that personal relationship with Jesus there is an unfolding, and a familiarity, that grows within your life of Him speaking to you on a very personal level, where the word of the Lord isn’t the word of Elijah or the word of Ezekiel, but it’s the Word of the Lord to you and through you!
The whole purpose of ministry is to bring you into the place where you begin to speak the voice of The Lord in that particular wonder of His revelation to you. In the hearing of Him, we begin to walk in the present truth of His ministration to this generation and to the church in which we live.
Prayer is the means to discovering the “Go” of God’s Will. It is in our time with Him that He communicates and empowers. In the enormity of Jesus facing Calvary’s wretched death, He who knew no sin about to become the sin-bearer of the world, He drew near unto His Father for strength and grace to walk out the Will of the Father. So it must be for us. Through the intimacy of prayer, we hear Him speak and have the privilege of participating in His Will in the earth.
“…making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself”
– Ephesians 1:9
The KJV of this verse speaks of something past tense: “having made known to us the mystery of His will”. There is something amiss in this past-tense translation which is not at all expressed in the original Greek. The Will of God is a daily thing. It is a mystery which unfolds as we commune with Him and allow His Lordship to speak into our hearts His purposes for the now of life. The true Christian Life is an adventure which can only be experienced through the medium of Obedience. Paul, writing to the Church at Ephesus, used the Greek participle concerning God “making known unto us the mystery of HIS will”. How blessed we are to discover fresh opportunities of Faith to walk in His purposes!
The more we obey the impulse of the Spirit the more we discover confidence; a growing boldness, a dynamic which arises out of our own experience with God. It is here the depth of our prayer life is revealed and established. Prayer without the communication of the Will of God to us should be disconcerting, for prayer is simply the participation of our heart with His. Obedience and prayer are harmonious. I know from my own personal experience the wrestling and struggles to obey that which He has given me to DO in my time alone with Him. Knowing and discovering His Will is a mystery which is only solved when I personally step into it. I can have a word or an impression of God to go, but until that step is taken His Will lingers, unfulfilled.
“Go ye therefore…”
“Go” is the impulse of God; “Go” is God’s heart to His Own. It is the word of God for us to explore, venture and invest ourselves in His purposes to make His salvation known to this world. What does that “Go” look like to you? Where does that “Go” personally take you? That is the exciting thing about the glory of prayer! The Go of God is bound up in us first coming in prayer, the secret place of communion (co-union) with Him.
“Come now therefore, and I will send thee…”
Unless we come to Him with a heart alive and burning with a desire to do His Will there will never be a “sending”. His Will is waiting for you to take His deliverance, His word of life and His love to heal the broken and lost of humanity. His House is filled with many who need His touch in their lives. Do we not hear the “Go” of God within our own hearts to be involved in making Him known?
It is the “lukewarm” who say, “I am rich, and I am made rich, and I have need of nothing”. They are content and feel no need to venture into the world around them nor expend themselves in making Him known. Those who need nothing will see nothing concerning the will of God. The soil which at one time received the seed of life with gladness has now become infested with the cares and comforts of this life and the life is choked with the thorns and thistles of their own sowing.
It is needful that we draw away from lukewarm living, carelessness and deception. Let us discover afresh the secret chambers of prayer and communion with Him. It is in this holy place that we feel the Fire of His Being igniting the altar of our hearts.
“Come now therefore, and I will send thee…”
God has a very simple and powerful remedy for us all: Prayer. The kind where we meet with Him and spend time alone in the holy atmosphere of His majesty. Not prayers asking Him for things, but prayers of communion where we learn to simply wait, child-like, without any other need but HIM. It is as we thus wait upon Him that we will find a renewing of our strength and a rising up to the honour of doing His Will. Prayer to the true child of God is not optional; it is the essential element of a fruitful life in Christ!
Eternal destinies are bound within our faithfulness to the talents He has graciously given us. The slothful, disobedient and the careless reap the disregard they show to the deposits of His gifts to us.
“And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine…”
To which Jesus declares:
“And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth”
“It is not the incorrect that the Lord despises but the proud; it is not the hot or the cold that the Lord spews out of his mouth but the lukewarm. When we are standing still out of fear of being wrong, we will certainly be regarded by him as ‘wicked and slothful’ not cautiously prudent.”

This other morning as I was waiting on the Lord I had the sense of a room filled with gas vapors becoming more and more lethal. There is a spark about to ignite flames that will encompass the whole room with a savageness and a suddenness; something so dark and sinister that the common man will faint from fear.
The flood gates of evil are about to be opened. It is a Day of sacrifice and suffering. It is a Day in which few will stand in the coming virulent fury. Dig deep into the only One who is able to make you stand in The Evil Day. Forsake sins and the hidden things and turn unto the Lord while there is yet time; the flood is coming, and it will not delay.
Forsake false teachings which declare that this flood will not touch you. Flee from the deceptions of wealth and position. The storm is upon us and He has sought to warn His people of these things. Enter into the inner chambers and seek His face. Let His light illuminate the darkness within and come to Him anew in repentance. Let His Peace and Joy permeate your heart.
Just as Jesus faced the mob gloriously arrayed in the power and wonder of the Peace of God, let us arise and meet this Day in the dominion of His Peace.
“Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness…”
I am hearing the trumpet sounding and God speaking and warning of the Night which is about to descend upon North America; a dark and grievous time filled with peril and treachery. It is a Day of judgment and wrath. Get prepared, forsake the evil, and draw near to Him. His coming is as it was in the Days of Noah who prepared himself by obedience prior to the storm.
It is a Day to find reconciliation with our brothers and sisters, a Day to humble ourselves into the very love of God. His Love endures all things. His Love thinks no evil and the verity of this love is revealed in our love for one another. Steer clear of cliques which exclude your brothers and sisters. Let us forsake the pride of knowing and come into the power of being where the love of God has broken the pride of man and clothed us with garments of humility. His Love alone can equip us for this perilous time.
“If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar, for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen is not able to love God whom he has not seen. And this is the commandment we have from him: that the one who loves God should love his brother also”
1 John 4:20-21
Treachery and betrayal are coming. If we do not allow Him to fill us with the true love of His people now, we will not stand true then.
The “birth pangs” of a new creation are upon us. There will be lulls between the contractions but the intensity of them will increase as will the lawlessness and perdition for the revelation of that Wicked one must precede His coming!
“Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and who exalts himself over every so-called god or object of worship, so that he sits down in the temple of God, proclaiming that he himself is God. Do you not remember that while we were still with you, we were saying these things to you?”
2 Thessalonians 2:3-5
“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh”
“You’ve heard MY word today – NOW how has it affected you when you’ve heard my word?
Does it change you? Does it change your thinking? Are you willing to change from the way you were? To follow me and my Spirit to do what I want you to do, not what your friends, or your family, or your children, or grandfather, or grandmother want you to do and have taught you to do in the traditions of men. You are to do what I tell you to do and if you do, you will walk in MY perfect will, not in my permissive will: and most of you have been walking in my permissive will! I want you in my perfect will, where you walk with me – when I say walk, you will walk and when I say sit down, you sit down. When I say open your mouth, my Word will flow through you and when I tell you to be quiet, you will be quiet. Because you will be led by MY Spirit! Not by men’s traditions”
“If you only knew what is coming upon this earth you would be on your face right now with tears flowing from your face. Because none of you have ever even thought or even ever glimpsed what is coming. IN YOUR LIFETIME!!”
Tongues again and I asked the Lord to give them ears to hear you, to hear you, your Holy Spirit when He speaks – then we can be the people that You have called us to be – Jim McCants
I have met with Jim and ministered with him at a small conference in Calgary and deeply appreciate his heart and the sensitivity he has to the Lord.
John did not know what lay before him. The verse preceding this one tells us “and John also was baptizing in Ænon near to Salim…”. He was active and occupied with doing the will of God. Time is deceitful; its passage is swift and determined. There is never a moment like the present to be about our Father’s will. Slumber and apathy are thieves of the religious. The slothful one betrays their own heart with whispers of tomorrow or another day.
Just as John did not know what lay before him, neither do we. This precious gift of life is only available to us today; it is in making the most of each day that we experience the fullness of His call and purpose. The Son knew His time and filled it to the full in doing and being about His Father’s business. John testifies of the Son at the close of his Gospel:
“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written”
How can we who claim to hold Him in our hearts be unlike the One who in 33 years accomplished so much? Even at the age of twelve Jesus was engaged in the will of His Father.
“He said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be doing the works of my Father?”
Is it possible that we have muted the voice of the Father by the busyness of the world, the cares of this life and the religious attitudes of not being ready or worthy?
“And the one having been sown among the thorns, this is the one hearing the word, but the care of this present age and the deceit of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful” Matthew 13:22
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”
The day of acquiescing with the words and teachings of the Kingdom is coming to an end. The time of the disciples walking, learning and hearing of His words ended abruptly in His crucifixion. Within the scope of ONE DAY everything changed. These disciples now must become Apostles. The truth of Emanuel (God with us) must give way to the Christ within (God IN us). He must go from being our teacher to being our Lord.We must go from needing bread to being bread. This is the day of substance and reality. He is coming for our words, our vows and our hearts. In the dawning of His Day the hearts of all men will be revealed. It is not a day to boast in our knowledge or zeal, it is a day to tremble and to humble ourselves under His mighty hand.
“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day”
“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet”
In spiritual things hearing is the fruit of relationship. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them…” The issue of today is one of relationship and obedience. John prefaced his introduction of the great unveiling of Jesus Christ with a glimpse into his own walk and relationship with the Lord. In our daily walk, as we live and abide within the awe of His Holy Spirit, there is an ability to hear the “great voice” of God calling us to higher and deeper places in Him. It is the precursor to the seeing of greater things. A true walk in the Spirit of God cannot produce pride or self-sufficiency; the fear of the Lord is the atmosphere and the very nature of any heart that is alive in Him. There can be no real touching of His Spirit while walking contrary to the wonder of His Life.
“…but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word”
“And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net”
True living faith will never be conditioned by experience. Faith, to be faith, must always find its dependence in God not ourselves. Though experience says one thing the cry and purpose of faith must remain undaunted. “Nevertheless” is the word of a man who sets aside his own resources, strengths and abilities and believes God in the moment. This faith must birth a doing in the now. “Nevertheless” is a word that gives way to the doing of a thing regardless of our past experience. It is a word that comes to those who believe, and by that believing there is a response in the now of our life. It is not the “faith” of Mary who said Lord I know “… in that day…” something will happen, for the Christ stands in our midst speaking “I AM the resurrection and the life…”
Let this word “nevertheless” speak to us of better things than what our experience would teach us; for those who listen and regard their experience cease to walk and live by faith. “Today if ye will hear HIS voice…” is the creed by which we must live. Men who don’t do won’t hear. The Word is to those who “have ears to hear” for with every hearing there must be a corresponding act of doing and obeying HIS WORD.
The Spirit of God is HERE to press us beyond our circumstances, our former experiences, and our own resources into the glorious provisions of a God who is constantly calling us to deeper waters, a higher vision and a greater dependency upon HIM. How good is our God! How gracious are HIS ways; the thing we are confronted with is HIS doorway into greater things in HIM!
Faith, to be faith, must always be fresh, living and beating within our hearts. Faith IN a teaching or an idea will eventually become stagnant and dead; the faith of the living Son is active and real! It is never static for it is always moving from one faith unto a greater faith (Romans 1:17). Every living thing grows and everything static and stagnant remains the same. Obedience is the evidence of faith.
“So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place”
1 SAMUEL 26:25
Two men; one ever moving on in the WAY of God the other returning to “his place” of stagnation and disobedience.
“Belief is truth held in the mind; faith is fire in the heart”
J. Newton (1880–1950)
