The Blessedness of Giving

~ The Blessedness of Giving ~

“I showed you all things, that, thus laboring, it is necessary to partake with the ailing, to also be mindful of the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Act 20:35

Paul’s life was the teaching and the showing forth of the truths of God in Christ. “I showed you all things…” by the example of how he conducted his life. So many put their emphasis on what they believe (which has value) but the weightier truths of God are to be taught by how we live out the sermon of His life.

“You are our letter, having been inscribed in our hearts, being known and being read by all men, it having been made plain that you are Christ’s letter, served by us, not having been inscribed by ink, but by the Spirit of the living God, not in tablets of stone, but in fleshly tablets of the heart.”
2 Corinthians 3:2-3

The life of giving, the life of spending ourselves ought to become His signature in our life.

“For even the Son of man came
not to be ministered unto…”
Mark 10:45

May we measure our lives, not by the gains we have accrued but by the bread given and the wine poured forth. The true riches are discovered in the giving, not in the receiving.

It is more blessed to give than to receive

Spiritual poverty is not the result of what we have
but in that which we have failed to give away

“Give and it shall be given unto you…”

“…true gladness and happiness depend, not on being ministered to, but in ministry. When we have learned the secret of praising God in and for everything; when we refuse to shut ourselves up in our own griefs but compel our dull spirits to enter into the joys of those around, then we shall have no difficulty in living joyfully and gladly”
