Serving the Lord

“[He] has also made us kings and priests to His God and Father,
to Him—the glory and the power through the ages of the ages! Amen”
Revelation 1:6 (LSV)

The call of God in Christ is to make us kings and priests unto God (not men). The ministration of the Spirit of Christ is to create in our hearts the desire to serve God and represent Him to the world we live in.

True priests do not serve themselves, organizations, or religious enterprises. We are to stand apart from all other things. In this holy place, we offer to Him the spiritual sacrifice of ourselves even as Christ offered Himself in the perfect will of the Father (Romans 12:1).

“you yourselves are built up as living stones [into] a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ”
2 Peter 2:5 (LS

How little the precious truth of our individual priesthood to God is mentioned within the modern “gospel”.

Too few believers feel the call to sanctification, to stand apart from the business and self-serving aspirations of today. His work in us is to produce those who serve God, free from the fear of man; so intent on being true to His Will and purposes that they are an affront to the complacent and superficial.

It is the eternal call of the Son to beckon us to the joy and the privilege of serving the Lord our God alone.

“And Jesus answering, said to him, “It has been written:
‘You shall worship the Lord your God,
and you shall serve Him only
Luke 4:8

“The sign of a fervent spirit is serving the Lord always”
