Faithfulness

The Unrighteousness Mammon

“Howbeit there was no reckoning made with them
of the money that was delivered into their hand,
because they dealt faithfully”
2 Kings 22:7

In the eyes of God all of our dealings are measured and noted. The faithful in heart are faithful in all things. They bear the true knowledge of God; that he is ever beholding the thoughts and deeds of men. Here we see God taking notice that the carpenters and builders were faithful with the funds delivered into their hands. Righteousness and faithfulness are not limited to momentary situations but to a life. God has called us to be faithful in every aspect of our lives, living unto Him in holiness and truth.

“A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)”
1 Timothy 3:2-5

“Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless”
1 Timothy 3:8-10

We would do well to consider ourselves
and those who are in positions of authority.

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
Luke 16:10-11
