The Eternal Spring

The Eternal Spring

“And He that sat upon the throne said,
Behold, I make all things new…”
Revelation 21:5

All life begins with God. Without Him, nothing exists materially or spiritually. He is the beginning, and, in Him, life is to be filled with endless beginnings. He is ever making all things new. The glory of creation is always giving way to fresh wonders. Each sunset has its own glow and signature. Every plant and every creature are unique; though they belong to a certain species there is something distinct about them. No two things are the same. The Creator can never be exhausted in His creativity. From birth, there is always the first step, the first word, and the first moment of conscious thought. With each step of our journey into the expanse of His world, we become aware that we are eternal creatures moving toward a Call; the apprehension of a mystery that can only be known in Christ.

But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb
and called me by His grace… To reveal his Son in me…”
Galatians 1:15-16

He is the Word by which we were begotten in the fullness of His time and will. In the wonder of this relationship, His thoughts, words, and revelations contain the power of His Life to make us new within and without.

Relationship

Relationships by their nature are a mystery. Relationship is the only means by which we can partake of His ever-unfolding newness. Religious men consider God in abstract, static terms and concepts but something unfathomable transpires in those who touch the hem of His Holiness, Love, and Power. At times it is very unsettling. In touching the Divine we are struck with our inability to comprehend the vastness of Him. Yet there is a fragrance that draws us near.

Isaiah (chapter 6), being caught up to the very presence of God, was immediately struck with God’s glory and the contrast of his own dreadful condition. Yet, in the face of such contradiction and terror, He hears God speaking within the Holy Trinity: β€œWhom will WE send, who will go for US?” There must have been an unspoken atmosphere of Love shrouded within that dreaded Holy Place that enabled Isaiah to whisper, β€œHere am I, send me…” In these intimate moments, we catch glimpses of new beginnings in God. Though Isaiah had already prophesied mightily for five chapters, infallible words from God, we can rest assured he was not the same man after this encounter. So, it is with us. When we truly see Him we can never be the same and that ever-increasing light leads us to deeper places of growth in our knowledge of Him.

β€œBut the path of the just is as the shining light,
that shineth more and more unto the perfect day”
Proverbs 4:18

The light of Him is the life of Him. While many consider light to be the ability to understand certain doctrines and teachings or to hold scriptures in the intellect, the true light is the revelation of His light to us with the intent that it shines through us. The true nature of Light is the Life of Jesus speaking and shining into us the newness of His creative power within.

β€œIn Him was Life;
and the Life was the light of men”
John 1:4

The light we have is measured by the life of Him ruling and reigning within us. It is in beholding Him and abiding in Him that we have life. When one wanders from Him, the life and light will gradually fade into darkness and futility. A life lived apart from Him is a life without purpose.

Purpose and Life

Purpose is the evidence of life – they who abide in Christ are filled with the distinct call that He has purposed; a call that transcends a mere belief into the radical power of a faith that must “apprehend that for which it has been apprehended”. (Philippians 3:12).

“Think amid your plans and anticipations of future gaiety what the redemption of your soul has cost, and how the dying Saviour would wish you to act. His wounds plead that you will live for better things.”

When we are called our soul yearns for more truth of Him and less of the worlds knowledge. The worlds ways pale in comparison to the new found wisdom that will one day allow us to spend eternity with the Lord. Gods strength be yours Always.

I believe the light of Christ is what he desires to reflect from us, but in order for this there needs to be a change of character in us as he transforms us in the image of Christ so that our own character mirrors his.

The hope of our radiating Him to the world is “Christ in you” the hope of glory. His life in me is the only light that can shine through me. It has been quite a personal revelation concerning Jesus and the disciples. Even though He walked with them for three and one-half years they remained virtually unchanged. It was not until the Holy Spirit filled them that they were different.

β€œEven the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you”
      John 14:17

There is a trendous outcome concerning these two tenses used here: (WITH you and shall be IN you) the “WITH” and the “IN” was the determinating expression of their/our walk. The Holy Spirit being WITH them produced disciples, and the Holy Spirit being IN them produced Apostles. Oh, may we see the necessity of a new outpouring and a new immersion (baptism) into Him in this late hour! (An excerpt from a writing soon to be posted)

Be blessed, encouraged, and enlarged in Him.
