The Fire of Truth

The Fire of Truth

Excerpt from his Book – “Broken Bread”

“So let me burn through fetters that would bind;
This will I learn and freedom will I find.”
John Wright Follette

“Oh, friends, a miracle awaits the one who thus dares to yield all to God. “So let me burn through fetters that would bind.” The fire frees and releases the soul. One finds freedom from earthly bondage and the soul experiences a rich spiritual illumination.  The fetters of tradition, old forms, religious habits (religious but not born of the Spirit), unscriptural dogmatism and so much of natural setup in the religious life, are burned off. All this and more is consumed in the fire of God.

This flame is like the Word of God–the lovely Truth which now has a ministry in the inner life. As surely as the Blood cleanses us from sin, so does the Truth, this heavenly fire, cleanse and set free the soul from hindering and binding things which could keep us from entering into that fuller understanding of His glorious purposes for us. “Thus will I learn and freedom will I find.” This is the true liberty which God has for those who will pay the price. The Christian life is a series of crises and cycles of growth.

There is a deep and glorious evolution for those who meet the demands God requires. The new life becomes schooling and a divine process of becoming. Here we are disentangled and extricated from the old, Adamic setup. Life becomes a series of divinely planned experiences in which God is faithfully working to release us and adjust us to a life in Himself.”
– John Wright Follet

Come Thou Holy Fire,
Burn to purify within.
Consume the dross and self-desire,
and free me utterly from sin.
Brian Troxel

  • Jesus baptizes with fire is the final judgement of the unrepentant, the Lake of Fire. We are purified, sanctified by His Word. Not by the baptism of His fire. Look at who John the Baptist was talking to, and his tone towards them, and you will see that the fire baptism was meant for them, the Pharisees and Sadducees. Read carefully Matthew 3, please.

    Love in Christ~

    • “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:2-4

I see and understand the connection you are making but in God there are many different fires – some are for Judgment to the ungodly and others are fires to purify His own.

“When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.” Isaiah 4:4

“But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness.” Malachi 3:2-3

I hold this as a promise for our day that He will purify His people that we may be pleasing to Him in all things.

Sorry for my delay in answering I was travelling for the past 6 days.

      Thank you for the comment.
