Ministry and the Throne of Grace

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16 (ESV)

The Kingdom we seek is unlike any other for its throne, though majestic, imperial, and Holy, is called the Throne of Grace. Here the weary pilgrim may approach and receive mercy to finish the race set before him. Here we find the strength to contend with the things that would wear us out, tear us down, and seek to destroy our confidence in the One who has promised to keep us in His care.

Failure, weakness, and discouragement are just a few of the issues every child of God will face in their pursuit of His Kingdom and Righteousness. It is in these times that we are given opportunities to draw near to the One in whom resides strength, mercy, and grace. Here we are made partakers of those precious ministrations of Him that we might be more like Him. He gives us grace so that we may become more gracious to others. In receiving His mercy, we are to become more merciful to others. As we are strengthened, we can minister strength into the lives of those around us.

Ministry and the Throne of Grace

The depth and substance of our walk with God are revealed in the ability to strengthen and encourage others. Wisdom is the ability to minister truth into another life. It is a divine enablement to touch the heart of another by being sensitive to the whispers of the Holy Spirit. Only He who made the human heart knows the intricacies of its workings, the hidden perplexities, and the inner cry. It is incumbent upon us to walk carefully. In drawing near to Him in our own circumstances, we learn to draw near to Him on behalf of others. True grace will cause us to know that the things of others become more important than their own.

It is a learned way of life; one that involves the discovery of our own failures and weaknesses. This throne of Grace is much more than a personal truth. It becomes the very means by which we bring others into the sphere and wonder of its power.

True ministry, heartfelt and powerful, flows from those who know that the Throne of God is to be a source of Grace into the lives of others. The Grace of God is never just a sentiment. It is His power to enable men and women to rise and overcome the obstacles which stand in their way. Grace will never allow a life to be comfortable in defeat or compromise. At His Throne of Grace we find something more than sympathy, we discover the divine enablement to stand and walk.

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb”
Revelation 22:1
