Meekness – The Revelation of God’s Power

“His brightness was like the light;
rays flashed from His hand;
and there He veiled his power”
Habakkuk 3:4

God hides His Power. To touch the pulsating power of the Almighty God is to know the latent wonder of His glory (exousia). This power is unfathomable, unconquerable and, above all, restrained. It is only the insecure, the proud and the fallen who seek to exercise their authority over others. God Himself has no need to arbitrarily prove His power. The crucified hands of Christ are the true demonstration of God’s Almighty Power. It is from His wounds that the rays of His Light shine forth. In His garments of meekness His Power is made bare. The governing powers of this world, the mocking and murderous mobs of the heathen, the rage of the devil himself will never understand the secret and wonder of God’s power.

God’s Power is hidden
within the Hands of His Christ

The invitation of His Spirit is ever extended to our unbelieving hearts to touch the wounds of the bleeding Christ, the touch-stone to which all creation owes its being. Within the veil of these wounds God’s Nature is revealed.

“Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands;
and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side:
and be not faithless, but believing…”
John 20:27

While the religious of the world contend for their rights of expression, the Crucified Christ laid aside His Rights and revealed His eternal power through His nail-pierced hands. It was His full compliance to the Will of the Father that our Lord conquered the stratagems and the devilish wisdom of spiritual wickedness in high places. The wisdom of God veiled in the meekness of Christ overthrew and “destroyed the works of the devil* and brought salvation to all who put their trust in Him. May we as followers of Him overcome the evil in our day in like manner.

“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory
1 Corinthians 2:7-8

This humility, submission, and the entire act of His sanctified Will can be ours in Christ alone. The natural man will never touch the power of this meekness by which “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself…”.  Those who are to reign with Christ are those who overcome “EVEN AS HE overcame”.

“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne”
Revelation 3:21

Submission is the path to victory; humility before honor, and death to self, are the means to LIFE in Christ.

“For let this mind be in you
that [is] also in Christ Jesus…
but emptied Himself, having taken the form of a servant,
having been made in the likeness of men,
and having been found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself, having become obedient
to death—even death of a cross,
for this reason, also,
God highly exalted Him…”

Philippians 2:5;7-9 (LSV)

* “Destroy the works of the Devil” –

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested,
that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
1 John 3:8

“We had long known the Lord without realizing that meekness and lowliness of heart should be the distinguishing feature of the disciple.”
– Andrew Murray

“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men;
and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For ye see your calling, brethren…”
1 Corinthians 1:25-26
