“Unto Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.”
Psalm 25:1

The soul that is in earnest to be filled with the “fulness of God” (Ephesians 3:19) knows well the need, the press, and the passion for His transforming work deep within. His perfections draw us away from the paltry things of this earth into a pursuit of Him that is borne by the Holy Spirit.
The drawings of God are the results of a Love that is divine and unrelenting.
“Your anointing oils are fragrant;
your Name is oil poured out; therefore virgins love you.
Draw me after you; let us run…”
Song of Songs 1:3-4 (ESV)
His anointing oils release a fragrance that draws hungry souls to Him. Those who love Him cannot linger long in places of ease, resting in the knowledge of His forgiveness; there is a pursuit born of a pure desire to know Him as He is.
Where the anointing rests, pursuit arises. His anointing produces one solitary cry unto Him: “draw me”.
Draw Me
No purer sonnet may fill the heart of His beloved. His love for us fills our hearts with a reciprocating love for Him and His interests.
“We love Him, because He first loved us.”
1 John 4:19
Such love is the basis of true obedience, service and worship; the matrix from which our pursuit of Him is born.
“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend* with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:17-19 (ESV)
*comprehend is the same Greek word used in Philippians 3:12-13; it conveys a pursuit, a longing, an inherent need to obtain the prize!
“In allusion to the public games, to obtain the prize with the idea of eager and strenuous exertion, to grasp, seize upon (Rom 9:30; 1Co 9:24; Php 3:12-13, “for which very end I also have been taken hold of by Christ” [a.t.], Php 3:12).”
– Dr. Spiros Zodhiates
We may have a knowledge of His love on an intellectual level, but to those born of His Spirit there is a passion in which to be immersed. There are depths to be discovered, treasures to inherit, and a limitless ocean of a love that transcends ALL knowledge.
There is an aspect of Himself that beckons the pilgrim of faith to explore and to be more fully captured within our heart of hearts.
“Draw nigh to God,
and He will draw nigh to you.”
James 4:8
Paul declares this pursuit in a language that only the captured can understand:
“…that I may win* Christ.”
Philippians 3:8
*“to gain Christ’s favour and fellowship”
Thayer’s Greek
“Your anointing oils are fragrant;
your Name is oil poured out; therefore virgins love you.
Draw me after you; let us run…”
