HE IS ABLE Part III – THE VALUE OF EACH BELIEVER

HE IS ABLE!

PART THREE

“If the foot shall say,
Because I am not the hand,
I am not of the body;
is it therefore not of the body?”

I Corinthians 12:15

Value. Even in earthly things the value of something is based on what someone will pay for it, not its intrinsic worth. Something that may be of little value to one is priceless to another. In the Church at Corinth there was much dissimulation and controversy because there was much value put on specific expressions while others were minimized. Today we have a similar situation where multitudes of God’s redeemed people sit in ignorance of the wealth and the precious investment that is theirs in Christ Jesus. We all admire a gracious ministration of God in an individual, but the truth of the New Covenant is that Jesus paid the SAME PRICE for every man. He tasted the SAME DEATH for everyone that calls upon HIS NAME. The attitude expressed here “because I am not the hand”, therefore I am of less value is really an expression of unbelief rather than humility. Function does not determine value, rather the price paid! How we need to see things through the eyes of our Redeemer! We hear things such as; “I could never preach like that, pray like that” and that may be true. However, it is the “I” that is the problem, not the giver. For there to be unity, life and glory in the Body of Christ there is no room for I. This is His Body and HE PLACES the members in it as it pleases HIM not us; there is no such thing as something insignificant in God’s Eternal purposes. What HE has purchased is to become a priceless, unique and powerful expression of HIS LIFE. It is UNBELIEF that says “because I am not the hand, I am not of the body…” It is the recipient of the one talent which hid his portion in the ground that received such a stern judgement from the hand of the Lord.

“Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord,
we persuade men…”
II Corinthians 5:11

The FEAR OF THE LORD is the great leveler of men. Paul is stating here that the thing that propelled HIM from one city to the next in HIS declaration of the Gospel was the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord does not paralyze men it enables men to walk, live and be responsible to the investment of the Lord in our lives. It causes us to face our own unbelief and ARISE to walk in HIS PROVISION. It frees us from the fear of man, the fear of inadequacy and the fear of failure. It brings us to the awful recognition that it is to HIM that I must give an account, and that it is a terrible sin to hold the precious things of HIM in faithless inactivity and unbelief. This is the DAY for the people of God to ARISE and LIVE and WALK in the provisions of the SON in OUR FATHER’S HOUSE. All things are HIS, and HE is looking for a healthy return upon the investment that HE has given.

The validity of any ministry is revealed in the degree of life that the people of God exhibit within the sphere of its influence. Unique, powerful and varied expressions pulsate with a life that only lives to bring glory, honour and praise unto HIM from which all things do flow. The purpose of ministry is to bring others into their own ministry by ministering faith and responsibility into the life of each believer. For it is in each member feeling the “weight” of their obligation unto their Lord and Saviour that this body will arise in such glory and power that this world will know that this is indeed the Body of Christ.

“…but God hath tempered the body together,
having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
That there should be no schism in the body;
but that the members should have the same care one for another.
I Corinthians 12:24 – 25

It is in the doing of these things that they become the everyday reality of our lives. We must tear down these strongholds for the desire of the Lord is to bring us to the same love one for another that there be no schism in the body of Christ.

“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse,
that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith,
saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven,
and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
Malachi 3:10 – 11

We hear much of tithing. How repulsive that it has become only a tithing of the unrighteousness mammon and not a tithing of the produce of the Lord within the hearts of the individual believer! How dare we believe that in giving more money the result will be “meat in HIS HOUSE”! Finances will not produce spiritual meat to supply the people of God with strength in the power of HIS MIGHT! The Church of Jesus Christ is a SPIRITUAL House not an earthly organization! A Spiritual house needs spiritual tools to build it, and it is in the functioning of each and every member that this house will arise and be fully completed!

This is the day for the people of God to walk in their gifts and callings and to know the responsibility and necessity of bringing their tithes into the storehouse, that there may be fullness and blessing in our midst.

TRUST IN THE LORD

TRUST IN THE LORD

“Trust in the LORD, and do good …”
(Ps 37:3)

Trust is the foundation of obedience. It is the substance of faith that our feet must walk upon in order for us to step into the things He has spoken to us. In order to obey that which we have heard the initial step is always taken upon the grounds of trust. We must trust Him who has instructed us to go. “For faith cometh by hearing….” The inspiration of faith arises within our hearts concerning the thing that God has spoken, and then comes the test; do we trust the One who has spoken that word? How many times has God spoken to His people His thoughts, desires and direction only to have them look at the things (obstacles) and fail. Why? Because the ability to do good, is dependent upon our capacity to trust Him in the thing He has purposed. Trust is vital to relationship. It is that history of interaction that gives us the ability to continue to step out into the unknown because we consider Him “faithful and true”. With every new discovery of His faithfulness there is a corresponding “go” from Him into new places of our inheritance in Him. “By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac…ACCOUNTING that God was able to raise him up…” (Heb. 11:17 – 19) Abraham’s offering was the result of his accounting of the character and the faithfulness of God. This utter trust became the enablement to do the thing that God had asked.

How many of God’s people stand paralyzed at the door that stands before us whereas the only way we can step into these new places is on the grounds of faith and trust. This can become the place of disappointment and confusion or it can become the place of a new revelation. All the sermons, revelations and knowledge that we have been given can take us no further than this. It is the place of doing. It is the place of becoming. It is the juncture between the former things and the new things. It is our personal crisis. It is the point at which no man can help us. Never find rest in hearing; it is in the doing that our faith is revealed.

“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them:
but the word preached did not profit them,
not being mixed with faith in them that heard it”
(Heb. 4:2).

The word that has been ministered to us is only proved to be profitable in us through the medium of obedience to that word. James exhorts us to be “doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving ourselves…” May the Lord bring into our lives the healthy Fear of the Lord that we might move on in the things He has called us to. As we are exhorted in Hebrews “Let us therefore fear…” Fear what? “…lest, a promise being left us of entering into His rest…” The fear of the Lord will impel us to move; our trust in Him will enable us to step out until what He has spoken becomes the thing that we have done. God’s purpose is to have His word become flesh. That is, through the hearing and doing of His Will by the ministration of the Holy Spirit, we are to become “bone of His bone and flesh of his flesh”. As the scriptures declare “…as He is, so are we in this world”. These are staggering statements but it is not in us becoming something distinct in ourselves; it is in our lives becoming hid with Christ in God. He who walks in His light reveals who he is…so that light gives us reason to hope!

In all of this there is a gracious and loving God who is calling us unto Himself.   That call  is not only the desire of God for us to come to Him but the provision to do so; drawn upon through the walk of faith and trust. It is when the feet of the priests touched the river that the Jordan parted. Without the step there is no ministration of the provision. It was in the digging of the trenches that an army perishing of thirst was satisfied. God would have us to know that IN the very act of obedience is the revelation of His provision.  As the old hymn proclaims to us from generations before “Trust and obey for there is no other way…”

Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land,
and verily thou shalt be fed.
Psalm 37:3

SEED TO TREE

FROM SEED TO TREE

“There is none that understandeth,
there is none that seeketh after God”
ROMANS 3:11

These words describe the human condition. There are none with understanding or desire to seek after God. NONE. Whether it is Jew or Gentile, rich or poor, religious or non-religious, this is man’s standing before God. God’s issue with men is not because they do not understand, nor seek HIM, HIS issue is…

“…because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion,
that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth,
but had pleasure in unrighteousness”
II THESSALONIANS 2:10

To individually have a LOVE (agape’) for truth one must first receive it. Living truth is a two-edged sword that cuts even to the place of “the thoughts and intents of our hearts.” Since this love of truth is freely offered and given on the basis of Faith, we must conclude that we in and of ourselves have nothing to offer God. He has concluded ALL in unbelief! Where is boasting; it is negated. In terms of understanding or seeking God anything within us that lends itself to the pursuit of these things is completely apart from our innate abilities or personal value. God is NO respecter of persons (Jew or Gentile, slave or free, rich or poor….); HE gives freely to all who ask.

Now we are brought into the sphere of our awesome RESPONSIBILITY. Since this wondrous gift has been (past tense) given to us on the basis of Grace we now must face the responsibility of WHAT WE HAVE DONE AND HOW WE HAVE HANDLED THIS priceless gift!

“A certain nobleman
went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom,
and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds,
and said unto them, Occupy till I come…And it came to pass,
that when he was returned, having received the kingdom,
then he commanded these servants to be called unto him,
to whom he had given the money,
that he might know how much every man had gained by trading…”
Luke 19:12 – 27

We are free from any responsibility to work up a “love for truth” or a desire to seek HIM from our own carnal resources! We are, however, completely responsible for the care and diligence that we exert toward those things which HE HAS GIVEN. Anything within my life that desires HIS WAY, HIS TRUTH and HIS LIFE is a result of HIS GRACIOUS GIFT and if I do not yield myself to that call in my life I am without excuse! Every little impression that I feel from my heart toward HIM is HIS CALL to me to see more of HIM, to be transformed BY the seeing of HIM, and to sense a deeper hold on my life than I knew before. This is the RESPONSE by the faith of the Son of God within each heart. Failure to respond to HIS LOVING CALL will result in a life that is cold, indifferent and lukewarm in its pursuit of God. We seek HIM to the degree that we LOVE HIM. Love is ever deepened by relationship. If I were to not talk with my wife or not share things with her our relationship would never deepen and the relevance of her in my life would be minimized. So is it with God. The full value of the gift is realized by my diligence to the development and enlargement of it. In this parable everyone was entrusted with the exact same gift. The fruitfulness of each man was based upon their response to what was given.

IT IS AN IMMUTABLE TRUTH
THAT WE SHALL ALL GIVE AN ACCOUNT
FOR THE PRICELESS GIFT
THAT HAS BEEN PLACED
IN OUR TRUST

Jesus said that the Kingdom of God is like…

“The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed,
which a man took, and sowed in his field:
Which indeed is the least of all seeds:
but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree,
so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof”
MATTHEW 13:31 – 32

This love for truth that was sown into our hearts is to grow from SEED TO TREE. It is to grow from something that is small and insignificant to something that is large and strong in which others may come and find rest upon the branches of its life within us. From SEED to TREE is a description of the KINGDOM OF GOD! Men are always looking for some great event, some “moment” in time when the heavens will suddenly open and everything is changed. But without the quiet, consistent and determined effort on our part to GROW in the daily affairs of life we will not be ready in that day to give an account of how we lived our life.

THE FEAR OF THE LORD PART ONE

FEAR OF THE LORD

PART ONE

“But unto you that fear my name
shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings”
MALACHI 4:2

The fear of the Lord actually BRINGS healing to those who know it. The fear of the Lord can only be known by the touching of HIS HOLY PRESENCE. This is not something learned by a sermon, a seminar, the reading of books or a casual walk with God; it is the fruit of a life whose heartbeat is to KNOW HIM as HE really is. In much of today’s Christian life there is little, if any, conscious understanding of the FEAR OF THE LORD. As a result there is a tepid, impotent, carnal and divided Christian expression. The FEAR OF THE LORD is relegated to a sub note at the tail end of a sermon. The only concept most people have is what they have been taught not what they have experienced. Only those that seek HIM find HIM; only those that find HIM know and walk in the FEAR OF THE LORD. God’s complaint with Israel was….

“Wherefore the Lord said,
Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth,
and with their lips do honour me,
but have removed their heart far from me,

and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men
ISAIAH 29:13

Teachings, precepts and concepts in and of themselves WILL NOT produce the genuine expression of the SON! Only the LIFE OF THE SON ruling and reigning in our heart will make us authentic expressions of HIS glory. To know HIM is to LOVE HIM and to LOVE HIM is to know HIM.

The Body of Christ is broken, fragmented, secularized (I am of Paul, I am of Apollos, I am a Baptist, I am a Pentecostal, I am ….whatever), wounded and impotent, but NOT hopeless! Unto THOSE that FEAR HIS NAME SHALL HE ARISE! Hallelujah! Not only will HE ARISE but there is HEALING and RESTORATION in HIS WINGS. This means there is healing in HIS ARISING. Let us at this moment seek HIM afresh for in seeking we SHALL (definite) FIND HIM, in FINDING we shall know HIM and in knowing HIM we shall understand the GLORY AND THE PRIVILEGE OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD.

IT IS UNTO THOSE THAT FEAR HIS NAME
SHALL HE ARISE!

“THY PROPHETS”?

“Thy Prophets”?

“Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee:
and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity…”
Lamentations 2:14

True ministry is primarily unto the Lord, not the people. The prophets described here focused on the people; they saw vain and foolish things because they were concerned about their acceptance and popularity. They had no concern for the actual spiritual condition of God’s house; their concern was for the attention of the people of God. These prophets are called “thy prophets”, not God’s, for their ministry is of the people to build up a particular assembly, ministry or organization, rather than HIS Lordship or HIS purposes in the earth. When this is so, there will never be a “discovery” of the iniquity of the people of God because true accountability is not popular. It is in the ministration of true accountability that the people of God are FREED from their captivity. True ministry ever seeks the freedom and liberty of God’s people. A false prophet’s or hireling’s only concern is to keep the people from scattering. Interestingly enough this was also the motive given for the building of the tower of Babel! Sadly God’s INHERITANCE is of little concern.

We are living in the days of the House of Eli. There was no real correction and the “ministry” of Hophni and Phinehas went unchecked until the very lamp of God went out in the tabernacle! It says of that day…

“And the word of the LORD was precious (rare) in those days;
there was no open vision (no vision breaking forth)”
1 Samuel 3:1

It is because men no longer contend for the purposes of God in this hour that we have come to such a condition. The eyes of Eli “waxed dim that he could not see” and it speaks later of the fact that he had grown fat. Is this not a true description of this hour? Apathy and neglect are seen across the land. A “seeker friendly” atmosphere can mean that sins and iniquities are not an issue and that if a person simply “believes” that is enough. We can hold on to our sins and have God with no contradiction!

This “House of Eli” is soon to pass way. A new priesthood is arising with a new heart; a heart that is fixed on HIM alone; a heart that desires that unto HIM will the gathering of the people be.

“The nature of Christ’s salvation is woefully misrepresented by the present-day evangelist. He announces a Saviour from Hell rather than a Saviour from sin. And that is why so many are fatally deceived, for there are multitudes who wish to escape the Lake of fire who have no desire to be delivered from their carnality and worldliness”

FUNDAMENTALS

“And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth,
before whom I stand…”

II Kings 3:14

Here we see that the ministry of Elijah to Elisha was effectually completed. Elisha spoke from the same place of relationship and standing in God as that which Elijah also knew (I Kings 17:1). He spoke as one who fully understood his accountability unto the Holy One of Israel. Men who are content to have other men accountable unto them know nothing of the Holiness of God. We are not here to HAVE disciples but to MAKE disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. True ministry should always leave the people of God with the sense of their accountability unto God not man. The reason we see so little power, authenticity and abandonment is that we as a collective people have lost sight of HIS WONDER and AWE in our midst. We establish our organizational ladder of accountability and as long as that is followed we “feel” that there is a sense of order in our midst. We call this a successful “pattern” for others to emulate. But, unless there are powerful unique expressions shinning forth, it is only a deathly uniformity that is based on a carnal conformity to an organization not the transforming power of God! Paul writes to the Corinthians that THEY were his letter of recommendation; the quality of their lives and their love for one another. That is why he so passionately reproved them; he was held by the solemn obligation unto the Lord for them to walk and live in righteousness.

How we need a new and fresh sense that WE are accountable unto God for the condition of HIS CHURCH. It is our responsibility to speak forth HIS desire and purposes into the lives of those around us. It is our responsibility to pray and weep over the condition of HIS house. It is our responsibility to see the people of God DISCOVER the call of God upon their lives; to see them arise and understand that the quality of their walk is of vast importance; that they are not simply here to take up space on a pew but they are to influence the lives of those around them; that husbands are to so function as the priest in their home that there is harmony and growth within the individual lives of those in his care; that wives understand their responsibility to so walk with God and interact with HIM that they influence their husbands to be the men of God that they should be. We all have a part in this wonder called the Body of Christ! We all have a voice and we all have an incredible responsibility to see the prayer of John 17 come to pass. It is time for the ministers of God to impart to HIS people that it is unto HIM that we shall ALL give an account of how we walked in the fear of our God.

Men who sit for years listening to others without sensing any compulsion to see the Living Christ arise in their own hearts are dead; they are out of touch with HIS heart and HIS purposes. They have not seen the reality of the Body of Christ that it is made up of living, functioning, and holy members each of which have that awesome sense of a LIVE connection to the HEAD even Christ. The only purpose of true ministry is to minister that sense of a living community made real and alive by each member being held in the bonds of the Love of God to such an extent that we realize in our own hearts that of a truth we are “members one of another”. A living community that is not limited by the walls of a church building, a home group, a set of teachings or doctrines, ministries and organizations, but a community whose life is known by being IN HIM. This community of faith is called THE BODY OF CHRIST!

GOD’S INVESTMENT

“If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand,
