“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater”
Isaiah 55:10
“Seed to the sower”
God’s economy is discovered as we walk in His ways. The above scripture (Isaiah 55:10) is preceded by the following:
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:9
As we touch Him, His wonder, His grace, we find an abundance of His goodness and springs of water even in the dry places of life. His testimony is sure that He gives “seed to the sower” and “bread to the eater.”
Those who faithfully sow His Word will never lack in receiving more of His seed. In giving the little we have, He continually gives more. The riches of Christ cease not, but to those who sow little will little be given.
“He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly;
and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully”
2 Corinthians 9:6
There are laws that govern His economy; in receiving Him and loving Him we are freed from the constraints of our selfish nature. Love is the spring from which His graces flow. Concern for His people and His purposes are the reins that guide the purpose and intent of His ministers.
True ministrations of Christ flow from those who sow righteousness. They do not seek the spectacular or the tantalizing, for the Kingdom of God is revealed in “righteousness, peace and joy.”
“to him that soweth righteousness
shall be a sure reward”
Proverbs 11:18
“Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from Whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.”
Colossians 2:18-19 (ESV)
There is a sowing of righteousness by those who are “holding fast to the Head”. Their sole purpose is to see the Body of Christ arise from the divisions and secularization, caused by the egos and ambitions of men who seek followers that they may have the pre-eminence.
Whenever the cause of Christ is set aside, men and women feel little or no burden concerning HIS Body which is HIS Church. They are unable to sow in righteousness because they are not “beholding Him who is the Head” and “from Whom the whole body” is nourished.
The apostle John’s joy in Christ was rooted in the people of God “walking in the truth.”
“I have no greater joy than to hear
that my children walk in truth.”
3 John 1:4
The passion for HIS Church must exceed every other agenda for the ministers of Christ to be free to sow righteousness. Any desire for the adulation of others hinders us from the sowing of that living Word that is “sharper than any two-edged sword” that alone can “divide asunder soul and spirit”. Only by a sowing in righteousness will His Body arise for this world to see.

“That they all may be one;
AS Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee,
that they also may be one in US:
that the world may believe that thou hast sent Me”
John 17:21
“Every sin, every flaw, every dropping beneath our own standard in conscience of what we ought to be, has for its inevitable result that we are robbed for the time being of consciousness of the walls of the city being about us and of our being citizens thereof.”
