CONTINUE IN HIS GOODNESS
“Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God:
on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness,
if thou continue in his goodness:
otherwise thou also shalt be cut off”
ROMANS 11:22
It is essential to the Christian walk that we discover the life of abiding; of continuing in his goodness. The branch lives only because it is vitally connected to the vine. It has no inherent life of its own; no ability to sustain or to maintain that LIFE within itself. The LIFE of a Christian is not based on a teaching or doctrine as necessary as those are. The LIFE is only available by and through the medium of a relationship with HIM who IS LIFE. A disconnected life, an isolated life, a life that lives only unto itself has lost the vitality and the wonder of the SON. HE IS the LIFE and it is imperative that we “continue in HIS goodness” that we may draw from Him daily HIS sustaining GRACE and MERCY whereby we are able to grow and bear fruit.
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life,
and this life is IN his Son. He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
These things have I written unto you
that believe on the name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God”
JOHN 5:11 – 13
This eternal life is in the SON and by holding, abiding and living within HIM that life pulsates through us. LIVING, growing and developing in HIM is the real issue of life. It is the great CAUSE of all our seeking and pursuit of HIM. To be content and satisfied with whatever measure we know today is the result of not seeing the desire of HIS heart that HE has purposed for us. This great CAUSE that birthed within the heart of the Apostle Paul expressed in the Book of Philippians…
“…and be found in Him…”
“…that I may know Him…”
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:
but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind,
and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark…”
PHILIPIANS 3:7 – 15
This is to be the actual reality and cry of our heart! Let us ever seek to continue in HIS GOODNESS, in HIS MERCY and in HIS LIFE!
“For IN him we live, and move, and have our being”
