The Remnant

“Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant,
we should have been as Sodom…”
Isaiah 1:9

There is and always has been a remnant in every generation; a few people whose hearts are set on serving God. They do not seek honor for themselves. They have known persecution and separation from those who serve themselves under the guise of serving God. God has always had people who, by the spirit of burning and grace, are freed from their own agendas and pursuits in this life to honor Him.

“A seed shall serve him;
it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation”
Psalm 22:30

Whether it be Abel, Jeremiah, Job, Habakkuk, Amos, Peter, John, or Paul, God sees and accounts for them as one generation. Regardless of the covenant or their present circumstances they were faithful. They stood for righteousness amid the spiritual adultery and schemes of men to pervert and dilute the truths of God. They held up the beacon of His Light and refused to take the broad and easy path. They could not and would not speak anything less than the Word of the Lord for their day. Faithfulness to God was the pure motive of their hearts. Had it not been for these faithful ones the people of God would have become as Sodom.

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.”
2 Chronicles 16:9

The eyes of the Lord are ever upon those who walk blamelessly before Him. Within their hearts is a fire that burns, an intensity of purpose, and freedom from their own carnal ways. They are not silent. They do not choose the easy way and often bear the reproach of others who profess His Name.

These are prisoners of hope, bound in heart and spirit to DO and speak His Word despite the apathy of a false gospel. Misunderstood, labeled and ignored they nevertheless remain faithful. The true remnant conducts themselves in humility; they have no reason to boast in themselves. In seeing God, they have seen themselves and understand that any righteousness they have is a result of His Life ruling and reigning within.

Even in the loneliness and sorrow, there is a joy of the Lord that springs up within. They inherently know that God’s purpose is to make them holy as HE is Holy.

“Be ye holy; for I am holy”
1 Peter 1:16

There is a pure desire to be set apart unto God, not in isolation and apathy, but to speak and do His Word in the power of His Spirit.

“Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.”
2 Timothy 2:21

The desire of those who are becoming sanctified unto Him is to be vessels of honor, set apart and useful to the Master, ready and prepared for every good work.

May the Spirit of the Lord fully prepare us for what is about to break upon our land; a day of darkness, suffering, rejection, blasphemy, and sorrow. But a Day that will culminate in the glory and power of His everlasting Kingdom.

May He create within us pure and fully yielded hearts that we may stand firm in the evil Day having DONE all.

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints…”
Ephesians 6:13-18
