“And when they had lifted up their eyes,
they saw no man, save Jesus only.”
Matthew 17:8
Until the Day Dawns
The pure ministrations of Christ through HIS ministers will culminate in people seeing Jesus only. On the Mount of Transfiguration, three of the disciples beheld Moses and Elijah. Peter’s rash desire to build something (a typical response to revelatory experiences) was forbidden by the Voice of God Almighty.
“This is my beloved Son,
in whom I am well pleased;
hear ye Him.”
Matthew 17:5
It is within the nature of carnal man to build movements, doctrines and denominations around God’s merciful and powerful revelations. As glorious as these moments are, the intention of the Father is to glorify Jesus. Peter speaking of this wondrous experience in 2 Peter 1:16-21, declares we have a more “established word” that transcends all spiritual experiences whereby we “do well to take heed”.
“For receiving honor and glory from God the Father such a voice being borne to Him from the magnificent glory, “This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have been delighted,” (Psa. 2:7; Gen. 22:2; Isa. 42:1; Matt. 17:5) even we heard this voice being borne out of Heaven, being with Him in the holy mountain, and we have the more established prophetic Word, in which you do well to take heed, as to a lamp shining in a murky place, until day dawns and the Light-bearing One rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that every prophecy of Scripture did not come into being of its own interpretation.”
2 Peter 1:17-20
Any revelation, spiritual experience, or appearance that does not culminate in the worship of JESUS is to be denied. Moses and Elijah must fade in the overshadowing Light of Jesus. All scripture is given (for those who live and dwell in His Spirit) to testify of Him.
“Search the scriptures;
for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of me.”
John 5:39
Jesus is speaking here of the Old Testament scriptures as the New had not yet come. How sad to hear that many in our day deny themselves the wonder of Christ in these sacred scriptures!
Those who “speak OF themselves and FROM themselves” seek their own glory while using His name in vain for their own agendas and enterprises (Exodus 20:7).
“He that speaketh of himself
seeketh his own glory…”
John 7:18
Until the Day dawns and His fulness arises within our hearts, let us hold fast to His Word, His Life and His promises in a time when delusions and deceptions abound.
“And then if anyone says to you, Behold, here is the Christ! Or, Behold, there! You shall not believe. For false christs and false prophets will be raised, and they will give miraculous signs and wonders in order to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. But you be careful. Behold, I have foretold you all things.”
Mark 13:21-23 (LITV)

“Remember that vision on the Mount of Transfiguration; and let it be ours, even in the glare of earthly joys and brightnesses, to lift up our eyes, like those wondering three, and see no man anymore, save Jesus only.”
