Sealed for Redemption

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,
by Whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger
and clamor and slander be put away from you,
along with all malice.”
Ephesians 4:30-31 (ESV)

Faith enables the “washing of the word” to cleanse us of the filth and the stain of the carnal life.

It takes away life’s bitter angst that we may live and move in the sealing virtue of the Holy Spirit.

The lamps of the foolish virgins go out in the growing night that precedes His coming, while the lamps of the faithful burn long into the night. May we keep ourselves in the “love of God” through the power of His Holy Spirit.

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God…”
Jude 1:20-21 (ESV)

By yielding to the press within, we partake of His sealing grace; whereby we become living epistles of His wonder. A “day of redemption” is dawning for the faithful, a day of gladness for those who allow His Spirit to bind them to one another in the fervency of the pure and genuine love of God.

Paul follows the above scriptures with:

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32 (ESV)

The virtues of Christ are the evidence of a life sealed in the Holy Spirit.

Be Ye Sealed

Be ye sealed in kindness and love
Bearing long with each other.
For they who know not God
Cannot love their Christian brother.

Hold out the burning torch of light
Speak the Truth to one another,
To keep us true in the fight
United in His Holy wonder.

“It is God’s purpose to save — to save His people from their sins, to purge out of them all hypocrisy, falsehood, injustice, and make of them honest men, true men, just men — men created anew after His likeness. And this is the meaning of His salvation; and is the only salvation worth having, for this life or the life to come.”
