This Is the Love of God

this is the love of God

“For this is the love of God,
that we keep his commandments…”
1 John 5:3

The Word of God leaves no doubt concerning His assessment of our lives. He always seeks the highest good for those who are the objects of His deep affection. He is unmoved by our statements, words, and teachings when our actions are contrary to His commandments.

God’s Word to Jeremiah:

“…thou art near in their mouth,
and far from their reins”
Jeremiah 12:2

The Apostle Paul echoes this same sentiment:

“They profess that they know God;
but in works they deny him…”
Titus 1:16

The undeniable evidence of the Love of God abiding in our hearts will be revealed as we keep and walk in the way of His commandments. Too many excuse themselves from the life of Christ imparted to those who DO His commandments.

“The law of the wise is a fountain of life…”
Proverbs 13:14

The secret of abiding in Him is as simple as it is profound. The love of God abides within those who keep His commandments.

“If ye keep my commandments,
ye shall abide in my love”
John 15:10

There is no greater demonstration that His Love is the core and spring from which all our actions are birthed. Mere statements of faith pale in comparison.

“And hereby we do know that we know Him,
if we keep His commandments.”
1 John 2:3

    Amen!

  • Indeed, ‘If you love me then do my commandments.’ God isn’t asking us to do what he says because he needs us to obey, but the consequences of our disobedience which gives the devil legal rights to afflict us are far worst than obeying. He gives us instructions to obey because he knows what we don’t know and sees what we don’t see. He is God and he created us, the world and knows the consequences more than we do of actions outside of his will and purpose. Our obedience is also a statement of faith that we trust him to know what is best for us. Bless you.

  • Amen! True love for God overflows with obedience. It’s really a no brainer as well, why would I desire to live differently than the One who loved me and rescued me with new life speaks? The One who saved me is most assuredly the One who knows the path that will keep me to the glory of His Great Name! Sssooo very thankful that the Lord is trustworthy and faithful!
    Blessings today!

Love is the root and the fountain from which obedience springs. “The One who saved me is most assuredly the One who knows the path that will keep me to the glory of His Great Name!” – So true!
