“…By my God have I leaped over a wall.”
Psalm 18:29

Obstacles are opportunities for faith. Our faith is enlarged through our victories in Christ. The language here is an affirmation of David’s past victories, a declaration of trust in God to face the walls that seem to stand before him. Faith is a living wonder; all living things require our time and attention to thrive.

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God…”
Jude 1:20-21 (ESV)

By MY God

May we ponder the words of the Psalmist… “By MY God!” Faith is how God becomes personal, alive, and present in our lives. Faith is the assurance of victory. To live in faith is the end of trusting in ourselves. “By MY God,” I have overcome the “wall” that stood before me. Victory is assured to those who walk and live by faith.

“…this is the victory that overcometh the world,
even our faith.”
1 John 5:4

May His faith within us press us to face every wall, every obstacle, and the “sin that can easily beset us” that we may finish our race well. Paul, nearing the end of his life, declared in confidence and joy:

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith:
2 Timothy 4:7

Henceforth, there is laid up for me
a crown of righteousness…”
2 Timothy 4:8

Crowns go to the victor. Crowns go to those who kept the course by not allowing the walls and the obstacles to stand in their way. May we be encouraged to be faithful today that we may declare as Paul, “henceforth, there is a crown laid up for me”!

The faith of God living and moving within us will prevent stagnation and press us through every impediment that we may “stand having DONE all” (Ephesians 6:13).

Faith brings an indomitable determination. It will not and cannot accept defeat. Be encouraged in your God to stay the course of faith until every enemy has been defeated.

“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy:
when I fall, I SHALL ARISE…”
Micah 7:8

Blessed are those who can declare:

“Henceforth”
